TEMPORARY TATTOOS

HOW TO APPLY TEMPORARY TATTOOS:

The tattoo sheet has two sides: one with the design/temporary tattoo (sticky side), and the ghosted image side (faded image). The temporary tattoo side has a clear film that prevents it from sticking to anything until application, and the ghosted image side is there for guidance during application. The ghosted image is also an indicator of the direction  the temporary tattoo should be facing once it is on skin.

  1. Remove the clear protective film. Note: If it is a sheet with multiple designs, and you only plan on using one, you may leave the film on while you cut out the single design (step 2), to avoid getting dust stuck on the other designs.

  2. Cut out the design.

  3. Wet paper towel. Be sure to wring out the paper towel so that it is wet, but not dripping.

  4. Apply the sticky side of the temporary tattoo to your desired placement (ghosted image facing outwards). Make sure your skin is clean and dry beforehand.

  5. Apply pressure with the moist paper towel until the ghosted image side of the tattoo sheet looks thoroughly wet.

  6. Carefully peel back one of the edges to see if the temporary tattoo has adhered to the skin. If so, continue to peel back the paper slowly. If the tattoo doesn’t appear to be on the skin yet, you may need to add more water to the paper towel you’re using.

  7. Let the temporary tattoo dry on your skin.

  8. You’re done! Enjoy! Don’t forget to take some pictures and tag @vic.ink_ on Instagram!

THINGS TO AVOID AFTER APPLICATION:

Oily products and exfoliants directly on them. Even though they are soap and water resistant, products such as sunscreen, heavy creams and body oil will cause them to come off immediately.

HOW TO REMOVE THEM:

I have found it most effective to use an oil-based makeup remover. With this method: apply the makeup remover on a cotton pad, apply the cotton pad onto the temporary tattoo with pressure, and let it soak for a little bit before wiping.

OTHER REMOVAL METHODS YOU CAN TRY:

  1. Using an oil such as baby oil or olive oil. If you choose to go with this method, soak your temporary tattoo with oil and let it sink in for a while, before giving it a scrub with a washcloth and soapy water.

  2. Rubbing alcohol. Saturate a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol, apply pressure to the temporary tattoo, and carefully wipe. If you have sensitive skin, I do not recommend this method, as the alcohol can be drying and may irritate your skin.
